How to get to us

We can be found on Yaverland Road, Sandown, right in front of the beach. This is on the South-East side of the Island and is easily accessible by road. If using SatNav, our postcode is PO36 8QB.

Buses 2, 3 and 8 serve Sandown, and timetable information can be found at the Southern Vectis website. During peak season the Island Coaster bus also stops at the zoo.

Island Line Trains serve Sandown Station, with a 20 minute train ride from Ryde Station. From Sandown Station there is a walk of 20-30 mins to the zoo. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 0845 6000 650.

Hovertravel If travelling on foot from Portsmouth it could not be simpler, just hop on a 10 minute Hovercraft service from Portsmouth – Ryde and grab a bus or train to Sandown. Use the link provided or call 01983 717700 for more information.

If travelling from the Mainland to the Island by car you have the choice of a Southampton to East Cowes crossing with Redfunnel, or alternatively a Portsmouth to Fishbourne, or Lymington to Yarmouth crossing with Wightlink. Both services offer relaxed and comfortable crossings whilst you take in the views of the Solent.

Gift Aid

Did you know that it costs us more than £1000 a month to feed just one of our tigers?

Donating through Gift Aid means that we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It helps us to take good care of all the animals in our care. In order to donate through gift only a 10% donation is required. We have provided you with a guide to how this would be reflected in your admission - just click the button to view.

Disabled Information

A carer accompanying a disabled visitor will be admitted free of charge, on request. Supporting documentation should be provided, for example a current DLA letter. The normal admission or membership fee applies to the disabled visitor.

The zoo has one manual wheelchair available for free loan. We recommend booking one in advance, particularly during the peak season.

We do not own any mobility scooters. Local firms Wight Phoenix and Island Mobility offer scooters for hire so you may wish to consider using them.

Bus stops outside the zoo car park take you to Ryde or Newport.

No part of the zoo relies on the use of steps.

There is a large disabled toilet in our cafe as well as the main toilet block.

For animal welfare reasons, we are unfortunately unable to admit service dogs. This is to protect the service dog as well as our own animals.
